Weekend #2

So our second weekend in San Jose also happened to be 4th of July weekend. Adam had Friday through Monday off, so we definitely made the best of it. Friday we finally moved into our "hotel room" that we were staying in for the month. Sadly I did not get any pictures of it. It wasn't a bad place to stay, and it was roomy enough that I didn't feel like I was going to die being in it everyday. So once we got all moved in we went and saw Transformers 3 at the Theater. Good movie, but super long. We called it a night and headed back home.

Saturday was our first visit to San Francisco. We got up super early like 7 am got ready and were pretty much on the road by 8:30 am. We didn't know how traffic would be which is why we got up so early. We found a place to park, and stumbled upon the largest farmer's market we had ever seen.

mmmmm.... Peaches

After we hit up the Farmer's Market (which had some delicious food) we got our car and headed up to the touristy area of San Fran. We went to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Ghiradelli Square, and Lombard Street. Fisherman's Wharf had a bunch of restaurants, and it also had some museums. One was this old fashioned arcade which was very cool. There were also some museums that took you through an old boat and submarine, but they cost money so we just got pictures by them.

Straight out of Princess Diaries

In San Fran there is a lot of people doing some crazy stuff trying to make some money.

These guys were actually awesome. We got a spray paint painting for $10, quite the deal.

The statue guy wouldn't let you take a picture of him unless you gave him some money, luckily I snapped one before he saw me.

Crazy people, and I didn't even get pictures of the homeless people with signs that said "Need $ 4 weed" or "Need money for my alcohol addiction" Funny, but definitely did not motivate me to give them some of my cash.

We stopped for lunch at the famous Boudin Sourdough. I got a margarita pizza, and Adam got a sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder. So yummy.

They make some crazy cool stuff out of sourdough.

Next stop was Pier 39. It was mostly a bunch of shops and restaurants, so we just walked around looking at everything. At the end of the Pier they had a section where you could look at some sea lions. There wasn't as many as we thought there would be, but they are quite cute little creatures.

After we got done with Pier 39, we headed over to the Blue and Gold fleet cruise. I was so excited for this. It was a boat that took you out to see the Golden Gate Bridge, and then you went around Alcatraz. The ride out to the Bridge was not so much fun. It is a hour long cruise, and they try to get to the bridge as fast as they can, and holy cow, can you say wind burn. It was FREEZING! It took weeks for my face to recover from that. It was a lot of fun though. I went picture crazy when we got to the bridge, but when we got to Alcatraz we were on the wrong side of the boat, so I didn't get very good pictures of it, there is a ton of people standing in the way.

Next stop was Ghiradelli Square. On the walk there we finally got to see a real cable car! And this weird boat/bus.

Once we got to Ghiradelli Square, we took a look inside the shop, where we got a free piece of caramel chocolate, and then we got in line to get some ice cream. The line was forever long, and there wasn't a place to sit within the whole block. So we look around inside the shop to see who is close to being done, and we stand by their table until they leave and then we take it. Super awkward I know, but it is the only way you will get a seat, cause there are so many people in there. Totally worth it though cause it was the best sundae I have ever had in my entire life. I got a hot fudge sundae with milk chocolate fudge in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. Adam got a shake. (boring, I know)

Our last destination on our first trip to San Fran was Lombard Street (also known as the crookedest street ever). What a walk it was to get up to it. It was probably only maybe 4 blocks from Ghiradelli Square but it was straight uphill the whole way. I have never seen steeper streets in my life.
The streets we walked up.

It was time to head back home. It was a long but eventful day. San Francisco is the coolest city I have ever seen. We definitely fell in love.
