California!... Here we come

After the break in Vegas, we drove 8.5 hours to San Jose!! The drive was not absolutely terrible. I thought there would be a lot more cities to drive thru but after Bakersfield it was just orchard after orchard after orchard. (also Bakersfield has to be the ugliest, dirtiest, grossest city I have ever been in)The orchard's were real pretty though. They had tons of fresh fruit stands, so of course we stopped for some cherries, and apricots. YUM!!

We arrived in San Jose, and some friends of Adam's very graciously allowed us to stay with them for a little over a week while they were out of town. During that time we started looking for housing. Man, what a stress that has been. Anytime we would see something that we liked we would call, and someone would have already signed the contract. We already had in mind that we would stay at an Extended Stay Hotel, and if we found anything better that week we would take it. Unfortunately we could not find anything better, mostly cause we are only going to be here for like 7-8 weeks, and no complexes will let you sign a contract for that short of time. So we looked at subletting, but the only sublets available were for rooms in a house. Not very ideal for a married couple. So Extended Stay is what we did. It cost us cheaper to do that for one month then to rent something else for 3 months (which was the shortest term we found for leasing a place). It has been totally cool though. It is a pretty spacious studio, it has a fitness center and pool. So hopefully I will be coming home a little skinnier and a little more tan. :)

My days here consist of waking up, working out, sometimes going to the pool, but mostly I am just waiting around for Adam to get home. Some days are super long and boring, and others, I find creative ways to spend my time, like playing Lego Harry Potter for hours at a time. (I have a problem, and I am addicted to that game).

Adam is working like a champ. This has definitely been a really good experience for him, and will benefit him a lot in the future. He works super hard, and has to endure crazy amounts of traffic (like over 50 minutes to work and the same coming home) Some days it drives him absolutely crazy, and others he just kind of deals. At least there are plenty of things to look at. Luckily I have yet to endure sitting in traffic cause whenever we are driving together we get to go in the carpool lane. (thank the makers of that).

The weekends are when we really live it up. I will do separate posts for those. But life here in San Jose is a dream. It is so beautiful. Trees everywhere. I don't think the weather has ever been higher than 90, and most evenings I have to put on a sweater. It is awesome. We love it, and really wish it wasn't so expensive to live here cause I would probably never want to leave. But as for now, we are just trying to enjoy the experience, and worry about the important stuff later.
